George Soros Hands Control of His Multi-billion Philanthropic Open Society Foundation to His 37-Year-Old Son
George Soros is already 92 years old, is known for his huge donations to liberal causes. George Soros told the Wall Street Journal in an interview published on Sunday that he was handing control of his massive empire to his elder son, Alexander Soros. This is little surprise for the world because once George Soros had said the he did not want his Open Society Foundations, to be taken over by one of his five children.
Subsequently, in his first interview following his appointment, Alexander Soros told the Wall Street Journal that he was now chairman of Soros’s Open Society Foundations and planned to continue supporting and expanding the same causes as his father. He intends to leverage the substantial resources at his family’s disposal to support various human right causes in US and around the world.
Alex, a child of George’s second marriage to Susan Weber, studied history at New York University and earned a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He was recognized as one of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders of 2018.
Alex Soros has been involved with Hollywood as well. He is credited as a producer of several movies, including Trial by Fire and The Kleptocrats.
